Smashing the previous record of nearly 8 years and breaking a further 6 world records in the process, it’s arguably a record unlikely to be broken. The 14 mountains all enter the ‘death zone’ at that altitude, so-called because human life cannot exist there. Unphased by the enormity of the challenge, Nims never contemplated failure.

To celebrate this remarkable feat and the ultimate mountaineering goal, Bremont is releasing the Limited Edition Bremont Project Possible, limited to only 300 pieces. The watch has an open case back through which the rotor can be seen, which details the heights of each of the 14 mountains, and in the order that Nims summited them. Even with the sapphire case back, it is still water resistant to 500 metres and although built in limited numbers, its strength as a mountaineering watch has not been diminished.

Iris van Herpen and the Dutch National Ballet debut a collaboration entitled “Biomimicry,” exploring the symbiotic relationship between the metamorphic force in which fashion and dance interlace. The film, directed by Ryan McDaniels, sees the mesmeric dancer JingJing Mao undulating into liquescent shapes and transcending into graceful figures that reflect her myriad of movements. Dazing in warm shades of technicoloured organza, Mao defies gravity while gracefully floating through the air. Other times, the dancer sets translucent 3D hand-casted PU into motion, creating new patterns that play with the viewer’s perspective. Fashion and dance therefore become a catalyst for transformation….

The designer has announced a collaboration with Mini, his second with the company since 1999. Rolls-Royce speaks with award-winning National Geographic photographer and explorer Cory Richards. Inspiring greatness is central to Rolls-Royce’s philosophy, from hand-building each motor car at the marque’s Global Centre of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence at Goodwood in West Sussex, to creating an app named Whispers, specifically to inspire greatness for clients around the world.

The film explores Richards’ insight on risk-taking and striving for perfection, an affinity he feels he shares with Rolls-Royce. From a challenging childhood to summiting Everest without the use of supplemental oxygen, Richards’ life has followed an irregular path. His photography has taken him across the world – from the unclimbed peaks of Antarctica and the Himalayas of Nepal to the forgotten war zones of Angola, Uganda, and Pakistan. In 2011, he climbed Pakistan’s Gasherbrum II, making him the only American, and one of only a few people, to climb the 8,000 metre peak, in winter. It was on this climb that he survived an avalanche on the descent, taking an extraordinary photograph of himself just moments after his recovery.

In 2018, Richards took part in “The Final Challenge,” which followed his journey to some of the most remote parts of Scotland, the UAE and the USA in a camouflaged Rolls-Royce Cullinan, testing it to the point of destruction and ultimately proving it highly capable on all types of terrain. Richards documented the challenge as Cullinan undertook these final trials ahead of its world debut in May 2018.

A journey from the magical to the mundane through fashion, dance and theatre by Chinese artist and designer, Rui Xu, “The Dethroning of The Divine Beasts” is an adaption of the Classics of Mountains and Seas, an early compilation of Chinese geography and mythology. Rui Xu’s unique costumes, animal masks and specially composed dances tell the story of seven divine beasts, whom reside in an ancient, legendary realm: White Marsh, Torch Dragon, Chimera, Chenghuang, Water Unicorn, Nine-Tailed Fox and Pale Deer of Flood. These once-exalted, powerful creatures, formed as both gods and beasts, are terrified to discover the loss of their magical powers as they are transported to the mundane world of modern city life. They soon come to realise that the jade figures that manifest around them resemble their own appearances. Invited by the V&A to headline this curated showcase of Chinese art and talent, artist and designer Rui Xu presented her new works – Sky In Their Eyes: The Antelope In A Vanishing Landscape, a journey of tragedy and hope through fashion and dance theatre, with 11 dancers performing this woeful but beautiful story.

The bag designs utilize the famous green wool used in Gurkha uniform jackets in place of the brand’s signature twill, and are lined in red as a nod to the military flash worn by the soldiers.
