Tom Ford – Beauty Review By Reena Patel

Fashion designer Tom Ford tells us why lipstick is his preferred beauty staple for women, while we review new lip colour trends hot off the Autumn Fashion Week runways.

“There is no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip,” says Tom Ford. “It is the focus of the face and it has the power to define a woman’s whole look. Lip colour can be the most potent statement because it enables the woman to change her impression in an instant.”

Reds are all the rage this autumn/winter and Tom Ford’s Private Blend Lip Colours in Cherry Lush, Smoke Red and Moroccan Rouge give a seductive nod. Continue to follow the ‘‘cashmink’’ effect (luxurious soft nudes) well into the next season with his ultra-creamy blends of Vanilla Suede and Blush Nude.

“I chose Cherry Lush for the collection’s advertising campaign that I photographed because I am immediately drawn in by glossy, cherry-red lips. On the other hand, Pink Dusk, Blush Nude and Vanilla Suede perfectly capture the clean minimalism and sleekness that I love from subtle shades,” says Ford.

So what’s the latest beauty buzz on everyone’s lips? Bold pouts are set to strike for spring. At New York Fashion Week, tangerines burst in sunshine (as seen at the Marc Jacobs’ Show). Tom Ford’s True Coral and Ginger Fawn are flattering choices. During London Fashion week, lips also brightened up the runway (as seen at Twenty8Twelve and Paul Costelloe’s shows). Tom Ford’s pretty Pure Pink injects the perfect dose of feminine pigment.

Fashion was inherently the inspiration behind Tom Ford’s Lip Colour Collection. “I wanted to make a complete wardrobe of lip colours. I would like a woman to own all twelve the way she would own twelve very different pairs of beautiful, but different shoes,” says Ford.

With such a wearable spectrum, we couldn’t agree more.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Colors are £35.
